My end-of-year personal project is based on my experience as a mother. I have seven panels with woven bands of paper that show squares of color with the words “YOU DON'T HAVE CHILDREN THEY HAVE YOU” written across the panels. The bands are moveable, and then the viewer can move the bands to show the phrases hidden underneath each word. The phrases include the word seen on the panel, and all the phrases come from the book The Parent’s Tao Te Ching: A New Interpretation by William Martin.
